MARCH NEWSLETTER
After a hesitant start to the season way back in September 2002, our 1st 2000 team has gone from strength to strength to be in poll position for promotion. Our team consisting of Nick Palmer (Captain), Thai Anh Lieu, Franco Iannotta and David Massey have blended together making a good team. They are fortunate in having a good scorer, unbiased supporter, re-arrangement of fixtures and transportation officer (VIP).
If this team continues their winning ways until the end of the season; who knows - other than the MKTT League Committee - they could be promoted to Division 3.
VIP’s are urgently required to run the Club from early April to mid May 2003. This will include opening and closing the Club and collecting subs on Thursday nights. Perhaps Pat and Peter would like to take this job on board providing other adults would assist.
All those wishing to participate in the Handicapped Summer League on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings, please speak to Derrick before the 1st April 2003. In the meantime, give some indication of possible Club teams - this is not set in concrete but for you to decide :
Team 1st 2000 - Nick (Captain), Thai Anh and David
Team 2nd 2000 – Peter (Captain), Adam plus two A.N.O’s
Team 3rd 2000 - Menesh (Captain), Minesh and Joel plus A.N.O.
Team 4th 2000 – Derrick (Captain), Simon and Nicandro plus A.N.O.
Team 5th 2000 – Ali (Captain), Adam and Nicholas plus A.N.O.
Team 1st 2000 are planning to start at 8.30. It is hoped that senior players might consider joining a lower team for the early evening 7 p.m. matches to give them additional games and assist our younger members, who all require encouragement.
We have arranged to have entry forms available by the 1st April 2003.
Our congratulations go to Minesh who won two trophies at the Lillington TableTennis Tournament held at Campion School, Leamington Spa on 22nd February 2003. He was, I understand, the runner-up in the morning under 12 tournament and won the afternoon beginners tournament.
It is hoped our coach has fully recovered from his ailments (ten months plus seems a long time)so that he can encourage and listen to the needs of our young players.
GOOD FINISH FOR TEAM 2000
